At some point, school age children study butterflies. How they start as a caterpillar, wrap themselves in a cocoon, and transform into a beautiful, unique butterfly. Right now, here on earth, as we grow in Christ we are like that caterpillar. What we will be or do is not fully known, but if we listen to God, pray to Him, and follow His word, we will see the path He wants us to take. We are in that cocoon. When we accept Jesus into our hearts and ask Him to forgive us of our sins, we become that butterfly. We have Him living in our hearts and we can see Him.
For this craft you need:
- one printed page per child (1 John 3 2 Butterfly Craft)
- some watercolor paints and brushes
- tablecloth or newspaper
Watercolor paints advice: Water color does not come out of cement in sidewalks! I was nearly in tears when I walked out and saw the teacher had done the project right on the sidewalk in front of the doors. There was water color all over! I thought you could just pour water over it and it would wash off. No! I had to go home and get a brush and baking soda, and we scrubbed. After much effort between myself and my husband, we got it pretty faded. We did let the people we were renting from know and they said no big deal, she didn’t even notice. Live and learn!
Of course, you could just use crayons, but the paints can mix things up a bit.
